Life by the Lake: Our Tahoe Family Vacation
Mountains, crystal-clear water, crisp alpine air, and a lake that seems to stretch on forever—Lake Tahoe is truly the perfect family destination.
Last week, we had the joy of celebrating family: a milestone birthday for my mother-in-law and the arrival of a sweet new niece into the Gonzalez crew. It was a trip filled with relaxation, laughter, and adventure. From splashing in the lake and tackling a ropes course to shopping, eating, and sipping our favorite drinks, we soaked up every bit of Tahoe’s beauty.
In today’s post, I’m sharing all the details—where we stayed, what we ate, and everything we did to make the most of our time in this breathtaking place!
Where we stayed…
We had the pleasure of staying at a stunning lakefront property in Kings Beach, and it exceeded all our expectations. The home was fully equipped with everything we needed—breathtaking lake views, spacious bedrooms each with their own en-suite bathroom, a well-appointed kitchen, a movie room that kept the kids entertained, a game room, a large patio perfect for gatherings, and even a private dock. The experience was made even better by the exceptional service from Tahoe Luxury Properties, the property management company. We highly recommend this place for anyone planning a future stay!

Where to eat…
Lake Tahoe offers a wide variety of dining options, from the North Shore to the South Shore and in the surrounding towns. Whether you’re looking for a quick, casual bite or a scenic lakefront dining experience, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few of the spots we enjoyed during our stay…
Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner |
The Post Office | Alibi Ale Works | Jake’s on the Lake |
Tree House Cafe | Fifty Fifty Brewing Co. | Gar Woods |
Spindleshanks |

All the Things to Do…
We made the most of all the amazing summer activities Tahoe has to offer. On our first day, we enjoyed everything our lakefront property had to offer—paddleboarding, kayaking, jumping off the dock, soaking in the hot tub, relaxing on the patio, and taking peaceful walks along the lake.

The next day, we took a short drive to Truckee, a charming mountain town full of character. With its unique shops, cozy restaurants, and local museums, it’s definitely worth a visit. We picked up some fun Tahoe apparel from California 89, grabbed sweet treats from Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop, and enjoyed a laid-back lunch at Alibi Ale Works.

For a bit more adventure, we spent the following day at Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park. The ropes course was an unforgettable experience—full of wobbly climbing challenges and thrilling zip lines high in the trees. We all had a blast!
