Project Reveal and home decor tips!

While I try to enjoy the start of a new year, the month of January can seem long and dreary. Here in Houston, days mix between sunny blue skies with crisp air or grey skies with humid warm temps; this, for me, can feel like a roller coaster of emotions. That’s why I decided to pull the trigger and do a little refresh on our mantel…in other words, I needed a project to cheer me up, lol. We wanted to both brighten the space, and give more presence to the mantel. I’m extremely happy with how it has turned out and am loving it even more with my spring decor.

Here’s a flashback to how the mantel looked when we moved in to our home in 2018, and how it looks today…it definitely deserved the facelift 🙂

Tips in Decorating your Space

If you’re looking to update your home with spring decor, you’ll want to mix in a combination of textures and colors. This year, I wanted the mantel to have the feel of a garden shop, so I added a few textured pots and vases while layering in pops of color with the flowers.

One basic rule of thumb in the decorating word is to arrange items in odd numbers, as this is often more appealing to the eye. While there are eight items on the mantel, I have arranged them into three groups, providing more balance to the overall space.

Create a similar look by shopping these items…

My love for decorating stretches back to my childhood. My mom decorated for every holiday, no matter how big or small. It makes me smile to think of the joy that it brought to my family and I. Here’s a look back at my decorations over this past year…

Hopefully, you’ve enjoyed some of these tips and can incorporate them into your home.
