Home Decor…A flashback to last year’s Fall decor

This year has given many of us time to reflect…looking back on how things used to be; realizing that six months have come and gone while amidst a pandemic and hoping for a future that holds a little bit of normalcy.

Personally, I needed to step away for a bit. I needed time to focus on my family, myself, and to determine how I wanted “Rosy as can be” to look and feel in this very different time. While I am trying to figure that out, I do know one thing: I still love to decorate. With that, here’s a look back at my mantel decor last fall. I’ve updated many of the products so that you can create a similar look. Whether you pick out one piece or a few, they are easy ways to update your room for the fall season.

Last year, I decided to put away the warmer tones and go with a more neutral look by using all white pumpkins (yes, I had a LOT of white pumpkins, lol). Mixing brown and black in wood/metal tones with the white of the pumpkins produces complimentary colors, giving a classic and timeless look. I also found that neutral tones can pop just as much as the traditional orange, brown, red, or yellow colors of Fall. You can also mix in different textures with floral arrangements, books, and metal or wood accents. When in doubt, use pieces that you already have in your home. I often move pieces around to give various spaces a new look.

I loved how our mantel turned out last year! And I’ll more-than-likely go with a similar look. I started with this great barn picture and began building from there. The artwork transitioned perfectly from Fall, to Halloween, to Thanksgiving. I truly believe that switching out statement pieces like this is an easy way to refresh a space; there’s no need to redo an entire room (decorate smarter, not harder!).

I hope that you are doing well in these uncertain times. Be sure to take care of yourself, do something nice just for you, and try to find joy in the little things.
