We are t-minus 2 days until the weekend; everyone cheer! Growing up, all our family get togethers and parties with friends were held at my parent’s house. My mom is an amazing host and I learned everything from her! Everything she did, whether big or small, was done perfectly. She made sure every detail was covered and more importantly, that everyone felt welcome and had a great time in their home.
Some might be intimidated hosting a gathering, however, follow these simple steps and you’re good to go!
- Decide on your menu and drinks – If you’re overwhelmed, make it a potluck to reduce the amount of items you need to prepare.
- Make sure you have enough plates and utensils. Create a serving station and food layout. Think of it like a buffet…you want it to flow smoothly and without congestion.
- Seating – While you want your guests to be able to sit, you want people to mingle. Create areas that will entice people to move around. IMPORTANT: Do not put chairs near the food! lol
- Drink/Bar Station – Create a separate area in the kitchen for drinks. That way you don’t have everyone piled in one area trying to get their food and their beverage.
- Lastly, tidy up the house. If you don’t have a lot of time, try to at least wipe down the toilets.
This past weekend we hosted a fun get together with friends where we enjoyed tasty food and the BEST cocktail! Vince made a spin on a classic mexican cocktail that’s delicious with the perfect balance between sweet and boozy. If you’re looking for something to kick off your weekend or for a fun gathering with friends and family, it’s the perfect drink.
