Hosting a Gathering?

We are t-minus 2 days until the weekend; everyone cheer!  Growing up, all our family get togethers and parties with friends were held at my parent’s house.  My mom is an amazing host and I learned everything from her!  Everything she did, whether big or small, was done perfectly.  She made sure every detail was covered and more importantly, that everyone felt welcome and had a great time in their home.

Some might be intimidated hosting a gathering, however, follow these simple steps and you’re good to go!

  1. Decide on your menu and drinks – If you’re overwhelmed, make it a potluck to reduce the amount of items you need to prepare.
  2. Make sure you have enough plates and utensils.  Create a serving station and food layout. Think of it like a buffet…you want it to flow smoothly and without congestion.
  3. Seating – While you want your guests to be able to sit, you want people to mingle.  Create areas that will entice people to move around.  IMPORTANT: Do not put chairs near the food! lol
  4. Drink/Bar Station – Create a separate area in the kitchen for drinks.  That way you don’t have everyone piled in one area trying to get their food and their beverage.
  5. Lastly, tidy up the house.  If you don’t have a lot of time, try to at least wipe down the toilets.

This past weekend we hosted a fun get together with friends where we enjoyed tasty food and the BEST cocktail!  Vince made a spin on a classic mexican cocktail that’s delicious with the perfect balance between sweet and boozy.  If you’re looking for something to kick off your weekend or for a fun gathering with friends and family, it’s the perfect drink.
