My Hair Routine

There’s nothing better than having a good hair day, right?  With all the work, time and money we invest in our hair, it should look great everyday!  I personally despise doing my hair so any product or process that speeds it up, I’m all for it.  Today,  I want to share with you my routine and the products that I use and love.

My Routine

I prefer not to use a blowdryer (mainly out of laziness, lol) so I wash my hair at night and let it air dry.  When I sleep, I try to pull my hair up as if it’s in a high ponytail as opposed to sleeping on it.  In the morning, I use a ceramic flat iron just on the top front and ends to smooth it out.  I then us a Hot Tools 1” curling iron, curling it into layers from bottom to top of my head (in 3 sections).  Be sure to leave about 1″ of hair out of the curling iron at the end in order to create a more beachy wave. Once I’m at the top section,  I curl the first strands away from my face and the second strand towards my face.  This will eliminate the curls forming together and creates more dimension.  Allow the curls to cool for at least 5 minutes before touching or styling.  Once cooled, I use a mix of my fingers and a large-tooth comb to separate.  Even just flipping your head to shake the curls works well.  I then finish it off with Sebastian Sharper Plus hairspray.

This look will last me about 4 days with only having to touch up a couple curls.  If you wash your hair daily, try to add a day between washes.  Over time, your hair will be less oily and you’ll see less damage in your hair.

My Favorite Products

As you might have noticed both styling tools I use are ceramic.  If you are using a hot tool more frequently or have fine hair, it’s best to use ceramic instead of titanium.  Titanium heats up faster and can reach higher temperatures however, this can cause damage if used daily.

Let’s start with washing your hair…I first shampoo with quarter size of John Frieda Sheer Blonde Dark Shade Shampoo to remove oils and clean my hair.   I then shampoo with Surface Pure Blonde Violet Shampoo letting it sit in my hair for approximately 2-3 minutes.  This will remove any brassiness from your hair. I wash my hair twice as I find the second shampoo saturates my hair more evenly since the oils have been washed away with the first wash.  Depending how frequently you wash your hair, use the violet shampoo about 2 – 3 times a week.  I then follow it up with John Frieda Sheer Blonde Dark Shade Conditioner.  I only put conditioner at the ends of my hair (not my scalp) to reduce additional oils.  If you wash daily, I recommend trying this and over time, you’ll see your hair less oily.

By no means am I an expert in hair care!  This is a process that I have found works great for me and love the products.
