Fall officially begins September 23rd! Unfortunately, I do not believe Mother Nature has been informed here in Houston. With temps in the 90s, it feels more like we are in the middle of summer. So, what is one to do other than pull out the fall decor and pretend that it’s cooler outside, lol.
This year, I’ve decided to put away the warmer tones and go with a more neutral look by using ALL white pumpkins. Mixing brown and black tones with the white in the pumpkins allows the colors to compliment each other, giving a classic and timeless look. I’ve also found that neutral tones can pop just as much as orange, brown, red, or yellow colors. You can also mix in different textures with floral arrangements, metals, and wood accents. When in doubt, use pieces you already have in your home. I often move pieces around to give the spaces an entire new look.
I am absolutely loving how the mantel turned out! I started with this great barn picture and began building from there. I feel it will transition perfectly from fall, to Halloween, to Thanksgiving. But, as Vince always says, I’m sure I’ll find another cool piece to try out, lol. I truly believe that switching out statement pieces is an easy way to refresh a space; there’s no need to redo an entire room.
