It’s that time of year…time for family photos! A time that I personally love. I enjoy capturing a moment in time, reflecting back on how much the kids have grown, and getting everyone into stylish and adorable clothes. The key to a great family photo is the color scheme, the prints and, of course, the smiles. First, select your color scheme. Choose two or three colors that everyone looks good wearing. Next, select the prints. You can do a mix of prints, but I don’t recommend doing more than two or three. You can see a rule of thumb developing here…the two to three rule. If you do more colors and prints, they become the centerpiece of the photo instead of you and the kids.
While shopping the Nordstrom sale this past summer, I came across this green sweater and loved it! I immediately thought, family photo! Later, I found this adorable skirt online at J.Crew Factory for Rose and boom, my color scheme was selected, GREEN and BLUE! Next, I chose the prints. Since my sweater and Rose’s skirt were solid colors, I decided to go with a plaid print for the boys. I was so excited to find the same color combo at J.Crew Factory. Now, we are just waiting for our session with the photographer!
